Vivid colours, giant butterflies, silks, satins and velvets... the decor of this boutique hotel is the product of the ingenuity, talent and expertise of one of the most revered French designers: Christian Lacroix. Located in the ultra-chic historic district of Faubourg Saint-Germain, near to the most prestigious antiques dealers and the Musee d'Orsay, it has clearly provided the perfect canvas for the French designer to give his imagination free rein.

From the moment you step across the threshold into the reception area, you get an inkling of the delights in store within. Lacroix himself has said the gallery-style hotel suggests “a journey within a journey”, and it's certainly like being invited into – and becoming part of – a work of art.

The hotel's 34 rooms are grouped into three categories: Discovery, Original and Privilege. Together they comprise a veritable museum, with a different style for each of the floors of the two hotel buildings. In all, there are seven quite separate styles that range from the purest classicism of a bygone age to the most avant-garde of contemporary design, reminiscent of a full-colour 3D collage.

The stylish hotel provides service in English, French or Spanish, and an exquisite French breakfast can be served to guests in their rooms or in the dining room. For those who want to get in shape, Le Bellechasse offers the services of four experienced personal coaches who will accompany guests for a run along the banks of the Seine, offer a session of stretching or yoga or – if you dare – some self-defence training in the Tuileries Gardens.
