Spring is in the air, bringing with it the promise of sunny days and warmer evenings.

And with several bank holidays on the horizon, it’s also the perfect time to book a family getaway.

Look no further than Dittisham Hideaway, a completely unique experience that’s right here in the UK.

This retreat is located in Devon, just a stone’s throw from the picturesque village of Dittisham and the River Dart.

Its setting makes it the perfect place for a family break. And it’s not just the surroundings that will keep kids away from their screens. The accommodation is another level.

You can chose from three styles – Treehouses, Shepherd's Lodges and the American Airstream. Each has its own charm and all are finished to the highest quality with luxury interiors and thoughtful touches to make your stay all the more special.

We spent our time in one of the treehouses, although the name doesn’t really do it justice. Our beautiful new ‘home’ went down a storm with everyone, from the cosy living area to the welcoming bedrooms and the chic kitchen, complete with a welcome hamper and some home-made gin.

The outside decking area swept around the property and featured everything to keep a family entertained, from a hot tub and large hammock, to oversized games and a BBQ.

After settling in, we took a quick tour around the complex and it was clear the same standards applied.

The Airbus certainly makes a statement with its iconic design and interiors sleek enough to match, while the Shepherd's Lodges are the ultimate in countryside chic.

All the properties are located within a short walking distance of each other if you wish to travel with other friends and family -  I would recommend booking out a group of huts.

Despite its rural setting, there is so much to do on the doorstep.

Dittisham is an absolute must; I don’t think I’ve seen a more beautiful coastal village. And make sure you try the incredible food (and drinks) at the Ferry Boat Inn, located right on the end of the river with stunning views and the most welcoming of staff.

In between eating ice creams and exploring the village – The Red Lion with its on-site shop is a must – we introduced the kids to crabbing, which proved to be so popular it became a daily occurrence.

We enjoyed our time in Dittisham and at the Hideaway so much we didn’t really find the need to branch out further afield. Upon recommendation, however, we did make the short trip to Blackpool Sands – and I am so glad we did.

Arguably one of the best beaches in the UK, we spent hours playing in the surf. Highly recommend!

So, if you’re looking for an extra special family break, Dittisham is the place for you. A one-of-a kind experience that really does showcase the very best of Britain – what more could you ask for?
