Things are starting to look up for Savannah Guthrie after a difficult start to the year.

The TODAY Show anchor, 54, has been dealing with the absence of her mother Nancy Guthrie, with the 84-year-old reported missing on February 1 due to what authorities believe was a kidnapping.

The search for Nancy continues, and has gone nearly 100 days deep, but on the morning of Monday, May 11, right after Mother's Day, Savannah has big news to share.

On the latest installment of NBC's morning news show, late night host Jimmy Fallon stopped by to plug his love for the game Wordle, saddled with a big announcement – the viral word game is becoming a game show!

The half-hour game show will be produced by The New York Times, which has owned the game since 2022 and began releasing it as part of their Games app, and will be executive produced by Jimmy, and hosted by none other than Savannah herself.

The mom-of-two is a huge fan of the game, even saying on the show she had a group chat called "Wordle Nerdles" with her co-anchor Carson Daly and his wife Siri Pinter. Savannah and Jimmy explained how thrilled they were to be bringing the show to life, in development for apparently two and a half years.

They filmed a pilot for it last year, and the main show will begin filming in Manchester, England over the summer. Savannah even noted on the show that filming was actually supposed to start earlier, but due to Nancy's disappearance, the production team helped push it back to suit her schedule.

She said on the show: "I have to say, we've been working on this for a really long time, and actually we just found out in February that we got picked up and we were supposed to shoot in March."

"I just want to say a quick thank you to NBC and to Jimmy and his production company and The New York Times and the studio, Universal. Because when everything happened with me and my family, they just stopped everything and said, 'We'll wait for you'," she poignantly shared.

"And Hollywood is a really tough business, as you know, and I didn't expect that and I just want to say thank you, it means so much to me."

"Everything is strange right now," Savannah noted to The NYT separately. "It's strange to get up and do the 'Today' show every day, and it's strange to say that I'm going to do a game show when your heart is broken."

"Nothing about that has changed, and it's not easy, but I'm determined to put one foot in front of the other," she defiantly added. "And this is a joyous thing."

In a press release, Jimmy stated: "I feel very honored to be working with Savannah Guthrie on this show. Savannah has that rare combination of intelligence, charm, and warmth that makes everyone feel instantly welcome."

"And she obviously knows how to host a show. I am super proud and happy and I think we developed a solid gamer for prime-time."
