On June 15, Kim Kardashian's first-born, North West, turned 13, officially becoming a teenager.
The eldest daughter of Kim and Kanye shared snaps to her instagram story of the celebrations, and her cake was every bit as gothic and edgy as fans would expect.
The milestone was marked in a characteristically dark style, with a four-tier all-black gothic cake, decorated with black icing and skull and crossbones to top it off.
The desert, which looked like something out of a Tim Burton film was an unusual birthday spread for a young 13 year old, but the Keeping up with the Kardashian’s daughter has proved even before her teenage years she is not your average pre-teen.
The teenager, who counts Lil Uzi Vert among her favourite artists, has become known for her bold style choices, grunge-inspired look and edgy jewellery, which she has begun to share on her instagram which amassed over 2.5 million followers in its first few weeks of creation.
She also recently performed solo for the first time at a music festival on June 11, where North sang at Lyrical Lemonade's Summer Smash 2026 festival in Bridgeview, Illinois. The young singer was supported during the big moment by both her proud mom, Kim. The Skims founder shared a picture on Instagram Stories with a photo of backstage passes with North's face, alongside the words 'Stage 3... North West.'
The SKIMS founder, 44, also took to instagram to mark the occasion, posting a carousel of photos with the caption: "Happy Birthday my Northiiiiiieeeeeeeee (Uzi voice!!!) I can’t believe you are officially a teenager!!!!! There’s no one like you my baby girl! I love being your mom and watching you grow. I love you to the aliens galaxies you would speak of as a kid and beyond.".
The heartfelt caption from North’s mom comes as another reminder of the star’s unwavering support for her daughter, with whom she shares with ex rapper husband, Kanye.
The former couple, who divorced in 2022, are united in their support for their daughter. This has included attending events, posting on social media and even allowing North to be homeschooled.
It seems apparent Kanye has been a huge influencer on North's singing ambitions and has let his daughter join him on stage on a number of occasions.
She joined her dad at his comeback concert in LA, where the pair performed "Talking" and "Piercing on My Hand" at the SoFi Stadium on April 1. The pair also performed in January during the rapper's surprise concert in Mexico City.
It seems North knows exactly what she wants, and with her strong ambition has come Kim’s transparency with the decision to homeschool her unique daughter.
Speaking out about her decision to let North be homeschooled during an appearance on sister Khloe Kardashian's podcast, Khloe in Wonderland, in January. Kim said: "[North] is homeschooled and a lot of it is me helping her do a lot of the teachings and the things that we do. But we do a lot of realistic courses, things that she’s really into."
