Victoria Principal revisited a playful moment away from the cameras in her latest Instagram post, sharing a throwback photograph of herself in pink bikini bottoms and a cropped yellow tank top.

The Dallas actress, now 76, was pictured laughing as she knelt barefoot on a brick patio with two large black-and-tan dogs gathered around her.

With her brunette hair cut into a short, feathered style, Victoria wrapped her arms around her companions as they competed for her attention.

"Flashback Friday. Playing with China & Dyla before we jumped into the pool!" she captioned the photograph.

The actress did not reveal when the picture was taken, but the relaxed snapshot offered a glimpse of the affection for animals that remains a central part of her life today.

Fans react to Victoria's throwback

While Victoria's colourful swimwear caught the eye, her four-legged companions prompted some particularly warm responses from followers.

"You are a true animal lover and that says a lot about your heart. Thanks for sharing," one wrote. Another joined in with a canine-themed joke, calling the photograph: "The ulti-mutt experience."

The image captured an unguarded moment, with Victoria laughing as one dog stood across her lap and the other leaned towards her.

Her simple tank top and bikini bottoms were a change from the polished wardrobe viewers associated with her most famous television character, Pamela Barnes Ewing.

Victoria Principal's life on her ranch

Victoria's more recent updates show that her love of animals has continued long after her years at Southfork. She now devotes much of her time to rescuing and rehabilitating animals on her ranch, regularly introducing followers to those in her care.

In April, she shared a photograph cuddling her miniature horse Halo during his recovery. "Loving on sweet Halo as he recovers," she wrote on Instagram, alongside hashtags identifying him as a rescue miniature horse.

Her ranch was also the setting for her 76th birthday celebrations in January. Describing the occasion, she wrote: "Ranch party with good friends & carrot cake with buttercream frosting! Perfect!"

The Dallas role that made her a household name

Victoria played Pamela Barnes Ewing on Dallas from 1978 until 1987, spending nine years at the centre of the hit television drama.

As the wife of Patrick Duffy's Bobby Ewing, her character was caught between the feuding Barnes and Ewing families. The role placed Victoria alongside Larry Hagman and Linda Gray during the programme's hugely successful original run.

Pam also featured in one of television's most memorable twists: Bobby's return in the shower, which revealed that the events of the preceding season had been her dream. Victoria left the series in 1987 and went on to establish Victoria Principal Productions, making television films.

Her television career after Dallas

Although Victoria is sometimes associated with the era's other glamorous soap operas, she did not star in Dynasty.

She later appeared in Titans, the 2000 drama produced by Dynasty producer Aaron Spelling. Billed as a Dynasty for the new millennium, the series cast her as Gwen Williams, bringing her back into a television world of wealthy families and complicated relationships.

Away from acting, Victoria developed a career in beauty and publishing. She launched her skincare business, Principal Secret, in 1989 and wrote books including The Body Principal, The Beauty Principal and Living Principal.
