With his signature blond locks, soulful voice and string of chart-topping hits, Daryl Hall was one of the biggest heartthrobs of the 1980s.
And on Sunday, October 11, the legendary musician celebrates his milestone 80th birthday, marking an extraordinary six decades in the music industry.
Best known as one half of Hall & Oates, the singer helped define the sound of the '80s with unforgettable hits including 'Maneater', 'Private Eyes', 'Out of Touch' and 'You Make My Dreams'.
Now, decades after becoming a household name, Daryl remains passionate about making music, although his life has undergone some dramatic changes in recent years.
The singer, who continued performing into his late seventies, has maintained his distinctive long-haired look.
His milestone birthday comes just months after he revealed he had undergone a kidney transplant, sharing the surprising health news with fans in June.
The musician explained that he had received a kidney from a living donor and was recovering well following the operation.
"It was, according to my doctors, a complete success!" he wrote on Instagram.
Daryl added that he hoped to return to his normal activities within a few months, promising fans more music and episodes of his popular performance series, Live From Daryl's House.
The health scare marked another challenging chapter for the star, who has previously spoken about his long battle with Lyme disease.
Despite his health struggles, Daryl has remained determined to continue his musical career, releasing his sixth solo studio album, D, in 2024 and touring throughout 2025.
However, fans hoping for a Hall & Oates reunion may be disappointed. Daryl and his former bandmate John Oates, 77, became embroiled in a bitter legal dispute in 2023 after John attempted to sell his share of their joint business venture, Whole Oats Enterprises.
The disagreement brought an end to one of music's most successful partnerships, with the pair having scored six number-one singles on the Billboard Hot 100 and sold millions of records worldwide.
Although their legal battle was resolved privately in August 2025, the two musicians have made it clear that a reunion is unlikely.
Daryl was in a relationship with songwriter Sara Allen for almost 30 years, with their romance inspiring the Hall & Oates classic Sara Smile.
The couple separated in 2001, and Daryl subsequently married British socialite Amanda Aspinall in 2009. They divorced in 2015, four years before Amanda's death in 2019. The singer has an adult son, Darren, from a previous relationship.
Today, Daryl continues to celebrate his musical legacy through Live From Daryl's House, the acclaimed series he launched in 2007, which has featured everyone from Smokey Robinson to Joe Walsh.
