Melissa Joan Hart is a doting mom, and shared a relatable parenting post on social media over the weekend that resonated with a lot of other parents.
The Sabrina the Teenage Witch star took to Instagram to admit her sadness over missing an important milestone in her 18-year-old son Braydon's life, as she was unable to attend his senior night at his last home game at his school.
The actress instead was set to attend '90s Con, but was grateful for her mom friends who helped make sure she didn't completely miss out on Braydon's big moment.
She wrote: "I was sadly missing Brady's senior night at his last home game at his school to be at #90sCon but the moms of the football players made sure I was still there in spirit! Love you B! And HUGE thanks to the Mustang Moms for finding a hilarious way to include me tonight!"
A lifesize photo of Melissa's head had been cut out alongside a bouquet of flowers, which featured in several photos from the night, including one of Braydon on the pitch.
Fans were quick to relate to Melissa's decision, with one writing: "It's not easy to miss the important moments in a kid's life for work responsibilities. Thank you for giving up your time to make your fans happy. We appreciate you."
Another wrote: "Mama you are doing a great job. He understands you have responsibilities and can't be at everything. Missing one milestone is not the end of the world." A third added: "That's tough and know you would rather have been there."
Melissa shares Braydon, along with sons Mason, 20, and Tucker, 14, with husband Mark Wilkerson. The family lives in Connecticut, having relocated from Nashville during the pandemic.
The star recently opened up to HELLO! about her parenting style, and how she is raising her sons to be aware of their privilege. In 2019 she visited Zambia with her eldest son and returned in 2023 with all three of her sons, where they saw firsthand how aid provides clean water, education, and sustainable income for communities.
"The second time in 2023 we took the whole family, and we decided to sponsor three girls because we have three boys and we said, 'Every boy needs a sister!''
Talking to Today in 2024, Melissa also spoke about the sentimental side of parenting. "Everyone prepares you for the firsts. No one prepares you for the lasts," she said.
She also spoke about teaching her children about the "natural consequences" from their actions, such as missing homework. However, she admitted: "They are a little spoiled. I'm not going to lie. You want to give your kid everything and you want to make their life easy. But by doing that, you’re actually hurting them."
