We all have ideas of what our dream home would look like, the location we’d go for and the luxuries which would set it apart from any of the other new homes available to us. For many of us this will remain firmly as that – a dream (lottery win pending) we can only live in hope of one day owning our own plot of paradise.
It’s still fun to dream though. And for a little inspiration why not take a look at the homes of some of our favourite celebs.
Awards season has been a bit of a mixed bag for 21-star Adele. Flying home to the UK, with six Grammys in her luggage, her stunning year was again acclaimed when she picked up two Brit Awards. However, where last year’s ceremony will always be remembered for her haunting performance of ‘Someone like You’, this year’s event, following her winning Single of the Year, will go down as one of 2012’s big blunders. At least the star could retire back to her recently purchased £6million countryside mansion – the grade II-listed West Sussex estate comes equipped with ten bedrooms, two swimming pools and tennis courts.
Fresh-faced teenage heartthrobs, One Direction have come a long way since shooting to fame on 2010’s X Factor. Whilst much of their music retains the innocence loved by their hoards of young fans (… and some a little older), a couple of the band members are doing their best to live pop star lives.
In January it was reported that Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson have their eyes set on a purchase of the luxury North London flat, once lived in by Chelsea star Ashley Cole. The pair know the pad well, renting the space for £3,000 a week before showing an interest in a £3million purchase. Whether they’ll live up to the exploits of Mr. Cole is something we can all look forward to reading about!
The penthouse is part of Princess Manor Park, with Girls Aloud once calling the development home, as well as the rest of 1D currently residing there too.
Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin
Space is at a premium in London; but not for celebs. Take Coldplay star Chris Martin and Oscar winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow who shunned searching amongst the homes for sale in the UK and simply worked with what they had. What may appear a modest abode from the outside, is actually now a 33-room super home following the purchase of the neighbouring property. Walls were knocked down, with a gym and number of additional bedrooms built. Last year the couple bought the adjoining property on the other side too; thought to be used as staff quarters.
Not all of our UK celebs reside on our shores. With a number of our young actors flying the flag for Britain in Hollywood, who can blame them splashing their cash on the most outlandish of LA properties. Take Twilight star R. Patz who recently stumped up $6.2million on a 3 bedroom colonial style mansion in Los Feliz, California.
