Actress Liz Hurley’s proud family have spoken for the first time about her joy with her newborn son, and how she has “taken to motherhood like a duck to water”.

Speaking at the London premiere of Hugh Grant’s new film, About A Boy on Sunday, Liz’s elder sister Kate said the actress had been very upset about the situation with ex-boyfriend Steve Bing, who denies paternity. However she said that since giving birth, Liz “hasn’t had time to think about it.”

“Being a good mother is her sole priority,” said 38-year-old Kate, herself a mother of two. She added that she had been visiting her glamorous younger sister as often as she could.

“Damian has lots of brown hair and is gorgeous, very placid,” she said. “When he was born he was the smallest baby I have ever held. We’re all delighted and have bought loads of things for him.”

Liz, 36, now faces undergoing a paternity test in California if she wants to claim child support from multi-millionaire film producer Bing, who she insists is the father. The two have had no recent contact.

“The test hasn’t been taken yet,” Kate told the Daily Mail. “She’s in no hurry. I don’t want to be drawn on this, but Damien looks like both his parents. He’s a mix of both – you can see something of each in him.”

Ex-boyfriend Hugh, who still maintains a close friendship with Liz despite their splitting up in 2000, revealed that he would love to be a father, as he arrived at the premiere in Leicester Square.

“I have always wanted to be a dad,” said the 41-year-old actor. “It would be marvellous to be a father.” He refused to be drawn, however, on whether he had visited Liz and her new arrival.

Liz, who gave birth to 6lbs 8oz Damian by Caesarean section at London’s exclusive Portland Hospital on April 4, is currently recuperating at Sir Elton John’s mansion in Old Windsor, Berks.
