One of Cilla Black's sons suffered a terrifying ordeal at the weekend when he was attacked by burglars who broke into the family home in Buckinghamshire.

The youngest of Cilla's three sons, Jack, 22, apparently opened the door to the gang close to midnight on Saturday. The intruders threatened him with a crowbar as they forced their way in and then held him down during the 15-minute raid. Although he did not require hospital treatment, Jack was reported by police to be "extremely shaken" by the experience.

"We understand he may have been expecting some friends at the door which was why he was caught off his guard," police explained. "We are not sure if anything was stolen. The victim seems to have been very lucky."

Police helicopters scoured the area as soon as the alarm was sounded, but there was no trace of the gang.

The £2-million property in the quiet village of Denham is one of three owned by the perennially popular Cilla. One of Britain's highest-paid entertainers, she also owns a £1.5-million riverbank penthouse in London, and an apartment in Barbados. It is thought that she was abroad at the time of the break-in.
