Paris beats Bush in ratings battle

Paris Hilton has proved she's a force to be reckoned with, after clobbering none other than President George Bush in a ratings clash.

The svelte model went head-to-head with the US Commander-In-Chief on Tuesday night, when her reality show The Simple Life was screened at the same time as an exclusive interview with the politician.

And it seems that Americans have voted with their TV remote controls, because 12 million people tuned in to see Paris, while only 11 million wanted to hear from their national leader.

In The Simple Life, Paris is filmed as she gets to grips with life on an Arkansas farm. Mr Bush, meanwhile, was discussing the capture of Saddam Hussein and the challenges that lie ahead for US troops in Iraq.

But it seems that Paris' efforts at milking cows and plucking chickens proved rather more interesting than the intricacies for Middle East politics. In the end, however, the 22-year-old socialite was fired from the job after abandoning her duties and sneaking off for a dip in a hot tub.
