Four years after the death of her documentary maker husband Desmond Wilcox, 63-year-old Esther Rantzen has decided to search for love on television.

The former That's Life host, who was wed to her late husband for 22 years, is going to look for a partner in a special, Would Like To Meet on BBC2. "On the spur of the moment, I offered myself as a subject, because I believe that there are many people in my situation," Esther explained.

Esther was devastated when her beloved spouse died of a heart attack in 2000. However, she does feel that she must begin to move on with her life. "I was extremely lucky in my marriage to Desmond Wilcox," she says. "We were great friends as well as being lovers and partners, and I do not for one moment think I can replace him. But there are many exciting and enjoyable experiences in my life which I would love to be able to share with someone."

Would Like To Meet is part of the BBC2 Time Of Your Life series of shows, which are devoted to "challenging perspectives and attitudes to growing older".
