Charlotte gets the joke with mum Maria

Charlotte Church obviously saw the funny side of things when she went along to the opening of her mum Maria's new boutique in Cardiff. The Crazy Chick singer, who went along to help out at the event, was seen laughing uproariously as she shared a joke with her parent.

The new store may soon be stocking Charlotte's own designs, as the headline-friendly star is currently working on her own range of clothes. She's obviously not above doing her bit on the shop floor, though, as she spent several hours helping clients pick out purchases at the weekend inauguration.

And it would seem the 20-year-old, who was sporting a backless oriental-style dress over black leggings, was in the mood for splashing out. The previous night, when she went along to a charity auction at the Millennium Centre, she paid £1,100 for a portrait of her compatriot Tom Jones.

The "Cool Cymru" fundraiser, which featured photographs of Wales' top stars, was staged to raise money for the Noah's Ark Appeal. And the chanteuse showed her generous spirit by promptly returning her purchase as a donation so that it could be auctioned for a second time.
