Ice queen Ulrika glides into action

Given that she started her career as a TV weathergirl, Ulrika Jonsson must know a thing or two about tackling wintry climes. The Swedish star will also require grace and agility in equal measure if she is to emerge triumphant in her latest small screen outing, however.

On Saturday night the pretty blonde made her debut alongside a host of British celebs in the latest series of Dancing On Ice. And over the next few weeks she will be aiming to make her name as the next Jayne Torville, as she and her partner Pavel Aubrecht aim for glory on the reality show.

The 39-year-old says she will happy enough if she gets to the end of the trial without any major injuries, though. "All I want to do is finish the show with both legs unbroken," she confessed. Emmerdale actress Emily Symmons, Blue singer Duncan James and one-time Manchester United player Lee Sharpe are also taking part in the competition, along with Sky News presenter Kay Burley and Steps siren Lisa Scott-Lee.

And even if she doesn't take victory, Ulrika says both she and her boyfriend Brian Monet are already reaping the rewards of the gruelling training programme she's undertaken in preparation. "I'm loving my new bum - I used to be pear-shaped, but now my bum has got much firmer and my legs are more toned too," she revealed. "My children see my body, scream and run for cover. But it doesn't do the same to Brian. He's seems very pleased by it, which is a good thing!"
