Canadian talent jets into Cannes for film festival fun

It's no surprise that one of the year's most glitzy film events is attracting a strong Canadian turnout, with Toronto-born filmmaker Sarah Polley donning her judging hat for this year's Cannes Film Festival.

"It's the best job on Earth," admits the 28-year-old, who made a glam appearance along with eight other jurors, including Aussie screen star Toni Collette, at the opening night screening of My Blueberry Nights. "Everybody has one moment in their life where they really want something with sheer crazy excitement… this is totally my moment," she adds.

Meanwhile Vancouver-born Baywatch beauty Pamela Anderson originally planned to have her "own premiere" with her sons, ten-year-old Brandon, and Dylan, eight, at home in Malibu.

But she announced a last-minute change of heart on her website. "Now I am off to Cannes to support my brother's movie Blonde And Blonder," the mum-of-two wrote on her personal website on Monday. "Just for one day."

The blonde bombshell will no doubt make a head-turning appearance on the red carpet alongside her Blonde And Blonder co-star Denise Richards and her screenwriter brother Gerry Anderson.

Other Canadian luminaries expected to attend are renowned filmmakers David Cronenberg and Atom Egoyan, who have produced short films to help celebrate the festival's 60th anniversary on Sunday.
