Appearing at a local jazz festival over the weekend Amy Winehouse has been waxing lyrical about St Lucia, her new home away from home. "Since I first came to the island I have been greeted with nothing but kindness and friendship, as well as incredible music and the most beautiful of settings," she told the audience. "I have made friends for life and have been inspired by my surroundings."

St Lucia's minister for tourism, Allan Chastanet, says the reason for her apparent contentment is that "people have not judged Amy here".Her headline set at the music fest was cut short, however, when torrential rain caused technical difficulties. And concertgoers intimated the weather wasn't the only problem.

According to members of the audience, during her hour-long set the Rehab singer appeared to forget her words, struggle with her balance and even told the audience, "Sorry, I'm bored".

A spokesman for the singer insists Amy - who's seemed healthier and happier on the island she now speaks of as a second home - was sorry she was unable to continue.

"Amy would like to express her disappointment that weather forced the abandonment of her show at the St Lucia Jazz Festival last night," he said of the appearance which was her first live show since September 2008.

The evening started promisingly with the bee-hived diva - wearing a blue mini and with her famous hairstyle in place - telling locals it was an honour to be performing, before launching into signature tracks such as Back To Black and Valerie.
