Dame Helen makes her (stiletto) mark on Hollywood as she cements superstar status

Helen Mirren has set the benchmark for ageless style. The Oscar winner has proven time and time again she can compete with any Hollywood starlet on the red carpet – not to mention the beach. And in particular, The Queen of chic is known for her love of sexy shoes - the higher, the better. In September, she enthused about her four-inch platforms, which she said gave her "great height" and made her legs look "unbelievably long". "I used only to be able to get them in stripper shops," she admitted. "But now you can buy then everywhere."

It was entirely fitting then that Helen's strappy stilettos stayed firmly on her feet when she was commemorated in a ceremony at Grauman's Chinese Theatre on Monday.

The 65-year-old chose to immortalise her Ferragamo footwear in concrete alongside her handprint and signature.

Also commemorated – albeit accidentally – was Helen's bracelet which slipped off as she placed her hands in the cement. Ever the pro, Dame Helen had some fun with the slip-up, making sure the unclasped bangle was part of her imprint.

Helen was joined at the event by her director husband of 13-years, Taylor Hackford – the couple have actually been together since 1986 – and her grandnephews, Felix and Cameron Mirren. And the "incredible pride" she felt at leaving her lasting mark on Hollywood was evident. "There have been three real moments of triumph in my life," she said. "The first was being made a Dame of the British Empire of which I am enormously proud. The second was winning an Oscar. But the third is having my hands and feet in front of Grauman's Chinese".Her Arthur co-star Russell Brand was also at the ceremony. "I feel hugely honoured to be involved in today's ceremony because I'm in love with Helen, she's a really wonderful woman," said the British actor during his tribute. "Having spent the last three months utterly ensnared by her charm, I understand why she is being honoured in this way".
