It was a case of double vision for onlookers at a gala bash on Wednesday night. Stunning actress Andie MacDowell's gorgeous daughter Sarah Margaret Qualley was the image of her mother at the L’Oreal Legends event. Andie's 16-year-old plus-one set flashbulbs popping as both looked flawless in glittering evening gowns for the New York event.

Last month, the brunette beauty spoke exclusively to HELLO! in a joint interview with her mum about an exciting event she has coming up – the prestigious Ball des debutantes which marks her debut into high society. “I’m really, really excited. I can’t wait,” she enthused. “I don’t know anyone there, but I’m excited to meet new people.” The annual ball is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for a privileged flock of young ladies to don haute couture and mingle with scions of royalty, rock ’n roll and high society.

“My girls grew up in a small town in North Carolina, so they’ve never been exposed to anything like that,” explains Andie, who is also mum to a son, Justin, 25, and older daughter Rainey, 22. “One of Demi [Moore]’s daughters, Tallulah, is coming.” Margaret has already made an impact in the modelling world, having made her runway debut for Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti at New York Fashion Week in September. “She’s been offered other jobs but we’re being really, really careful with her as far as what she takes goes," said Andie, a former model. "She was just offered a job but they were going to shoot it in a bar and because she was 16, they [IMG Models] felt that it wasn’t appropriate.

“I’m thankful that they’re making wise choices to protect her. She is still a young girl.”

Doting mum Andie is making great efforts to steer her daughter in the best direction: “I give them a lot of advice,” she laughed. But the pair clearly love each other to pieces. “My mother and I spend as much time together as we can,” says Margaret. “We’re very close.”
