'We've grown apart': Heidi and Seal decide to go separate ways

Their announcement after seven years of marriage has left fans in shock. Heidi Klum and Seal have confirmed they are separating after "growing apart".

In a joint statement to US publication People the German beauty and her musician husband said: "While we have enjoyed seven very loving, loyal and happy years of marriage, after much soul-searching we have decided to separate.

"We have had the deepest respect for one another throughout our relationship and continue to love each other very much, but we have grown apart."

"This is an amicable process and protecting the well-being of our children remains our top priority, especially during this time of transition."

"We thank our family, friends, and fans for their kind words of support. And for our children's sake, we appreciate you respecting our privacy."

Heidi, now 38, and Seal, 48, married in 2005 on an idyllic beach ceremony on the shores of Mexico, with just her daughter Leni present.

In 2004 when the German beauty was expecting by her ex Italian millionaire Flavio Briatore she was stopped in her tracks by magnetic British artist.

Despite these unconventional beginnings, an intense and committed relationship ensued. He supported Heidi at Leni's birth and by 2009 he'd adopted the little girl.

The couple had three more children – Henry, six, Johan, five, and daughter Lou, who is two.

On every wedding anniversary, the pair famously renewed their vows, surrounded by their youngsters, and kept things fun with extravagant Halloween parties.

Kiss From A Rose singer Seal, also previously described his wife as his best friend and has a tattoo of his name on her arm.
