Cannes 2012: A-list love to light up the French Riviera

19 APRIL 2012

With the excitement of the Oscars now a distant memory, all eyes are turning to Cannes – the next most glamorous and exclusive date on the movie calendar.

And this year, some of Hollywood's hottest couples will be sweeping into town.

Newly-engaged Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt will promote his crime caper Killing Them Softly

They own a house just down the road, and the French Riviera will provide a romantic backdrop for one of their first public appearances since their big announcement.

The pair are regulars at Cannes, and have often used the festival to mark a milestone in their lives.

In 2008 Angelina, expecting twins Knox and Vivienne, showed off her baby bump.

Other couples set to grace the red carpet are Twilight lovers Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson.

The duo are promoting their respective films.

Kristen will beat the drum for On The Road, the first big screen adaptation of Jack Kerouac's Fifties novel.

Meanwhile Cosmopolis, Robert's flick about a billionaire financier, whose empire is on the verge of unravelling, will make a splash.

Fans of Die Hard daddy Bruce Willis and his wife Emma Hemming can expect to see them enjoy one of their first date nights since the birth of their little daughter.

His drama Moonrise Kingdom, also starring Edward Norton, has the honour of opening the two-week long extravaganza.

Also expected are Matthew McConaughey and his beautiful Brazilian fiancée Camilla Alves.

There will be an appearance from Nicole Kidman, perhaps with her Country star husband, Keith Urban.

Cannes will run from May 16 to 27, with acclaimed Italian director Nanni Moretti heading up the jury.
