Zayn Malik gets a tattoo of girlfriend Perrie Edwards

27 JUNE 2013

Zayn Malik has got himself a tattoo of his girlfriend, Perrie Edwards.

The One Direction heartthrob is dating the British singer and he has decided to show his eternal devotion for her with a permanent design.

According to TMZ, the boyband star headed to a tattoo parlour in Maryland, US, with fellow band members Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson on Tuesday.

Zayn is said to have asked for an inking of Perrie and the large design – of the star wearing a hat – nearly covers the singer's entire bicep.

The 1D boys took some time out from their busy schedule of their Take Me Home tour across America so that the 20-year-old could make a big gesture with some body art for the Little Mix star.

The trio reportedly asked their bodyguard to find a suitable studio first, and soon headed to the Tattooed Heart Studios in Glen Burnie in Maryland.

Louis apparently went to the artist's studios with designs in mind and asked for a spiderweb design – because he likes Spider Man – and an image of a bomb.

Liam opted to stroll around the small American town alone instead of joining in with his bandmates.

The new etchings aren't the first tattoos that the pop sensations have had done. One Direction have a steadily growing tattoo collection.

Zayn's body art already includes a show of affection for his 19-year-old girlfriend, with the word "ZAP!", reportedly standing for Zayn and Perrie. He also has an image of a microphone on his forearm.

Louis’s collection of body art boasts an etching of the word "OOPS!" and a stickman on a skateboard.

But Harry Styles's grand total tops them, with an incredible estimated 30 tattoos. His etchings range from a 99p on his wrist, a "Hi" on his upper left arm and a black lock on his left wrist, as well as a butterfly on his chest.
