The adorable photograph showed Kim giving a tender kiss to North – who turned one almost exactly one month ago on 21 June – wrapped in a yellow towel.

North has been taking swimming lessons in the luxury beachfront resort of Casa Aramara, in Punta Mita, Mexico, where the family are currently on holiday.

"North is doing a great job," a source told Us Weekly of the little one's water skills.

North isn't the only adorable toddler in the limelight to have delighted fans with the knowledge that they're on their feet.

Prince George, who turned one on Tuesday, was pictured walking unaided for one of the official photographs to mark his milestone birthday.

Press Association photographer John Stillwell, who was charged with taking the portraits of George and his parents William and Kate, told People: "He's quick on his feet.

"He was walking towards me – I was kneeling down to take the picture and he was on top of me as soon as he started walking.

"He was very quick. He looked really steady on his feet."

John added: "Prince George was very lively and very sure of himself and confident – a very determined young boy."

With his hands outstretched and a sweet smile on his face, George couldn't have looked cuter in his navy T-shirt and striped pair of dungarees from French children's clothing label Petit Bateau.
