It has been more than a year since Girls Aloud announced they were going their separate ways. At the time, Nadine Coyle admitted she had wanted the five-piece to keep going, telling fans she "couldn't stop them" from splitting. Now, the Northern Irish singer has lifted the lid on the moment she found out the band were no more.

Nadine Coyle has spoken about the moment she heard Girls Aloud were splitting up

"On the very last night of the tour, our management and publicist came up to me and said the girls wanted to split up the band. I was thinking, 'What?!'," Nadine said in an interview with the Mirror.

"I was in hair and makeup, about to get into my costume, and the show was starting in 20 minutes. I was shocked. I went back to my makeup lady and told her, and was like… 'I don't have a job! What am I going to do?'. I screamed and cried on and off stage. "Girls Aloud announced their split in March 2013, and the following day, Nadine, 29, told her fans, "You should know by now I had no part in any of this split business. I couldn't stop them. I had the best time & want to keep going."

Nadine also revealed that since she didn't sign any of the paperwork confirming the split, she is technically still a member. "I didn't feel it was the right thing to do. I didn't want to put my name to anything to do with it," she said. "So I said, 'If you want to write this thing from these four, write it from these four – but I'm taking no part in it.

I never signed it, so technically I'm still in Girls Aloud. I'm a one man band! "Nadine is currently starring in Michael Flatley's new show, Lord of the Dance: Dangerous Games at London's Palladium theatre. The star is usually based in LA, where she lives with her partner Jason Bell, and their baby daughter Anaiya, who was born in February.
