It's one of the most successful love songs of all time. But James Blunt, the man behind 2005's global hit You're Beautiful, has declared that he isn't a fan of the tune, calling it 'annoying'. In an exclusive interview with HELLO! magazine, the singer talks about how his new album, Moon Landing, was marketed very differently to his first release.

"There was one song that was force-fed down people's throats – You're Beautiful – and it became annoying," he admits. "And then people start to associate the artist with the same word. "I think, at the end of the day, I was marketed by a record company to appeal to women during Desperate Housewives' commercials and you lose 50 per cent of the population in doing so.

"The marketing also painted me out as an insanely serious person, an earnest person and, as all my friends know, I'm anything but. I have a couple of over-emotional miserable songs that I’m known for, but I think it’s turned that corner now. People can see I don’t take myself that seriously." The singer also speaks for the first time about his recent marriage to Sofia Wellesley. In the interview he says of the ultra-private ceremony, held in Majorca last month: "It was a very beautiful and very private affair with my closest friends and family." And he also admits that he and Sofia are thinking about the prospect of becoming parents.

"Having children seems like an amazing thing to do," he said. "A lot of my friends and family have done it. It would be a shame not to experience that. Failing that I'll just have to buy a little dog." See the full exclusive story in HELLO! magazine, out now.
