Chloe Grace Moretz has opened up about her relationship with Brooklyn Beckham, revealing why the couple have only just decided to take their romance public despite dating on and off for the last two years.

Speaking on US chat show The Talk, the If I Stay star revealed that the couple's relationship had been suffering as they were followed whenever they stepped out together, and so decided to embrace the attention. She said: "We've been on and off together for a couple of years now, and we just kind of made it official. We were always running from people taking pictures of us. And we were like, 'you know what? It's affecting our relationship.'"

"We weren't able to go to the restaurants we wanted to go to or just go to a movie and so we thought, 'You know what? If we're more upfront about it and we break down the iron curtain and we just let them take our photo, they're not going to care.'"

Chloe revealed why she and Brooklyn went public with their relationship

The 19-year-old revealed that she first met 17-year-old Brooklyn at a SoulCycle class in 2014, though the couple only began to share snaps of their relationship across their social media channels since April this year. Chloe initially hinted that the pair were officially an item after posting a photo of herself walking through the airport, captioning the snap: "Just a mermaid.. Making her way to London.. To find her prince."

The pair have since made their red carpet debut together at the premiere of Chloe's latest release Bad Neighbours 2, and have enjoyed other dates including a trip to Disneyland.

The actress also chatted about Brooklyn on US show Watch What Happens Live, where she confirmed they were in a relationship, calling it "no biggie."

She said: "We're in a relationship. It's fine. It's no biggie. And I think that, you know, the more I don't make it mysterious, the more that people don't care. So yes, we're in a relationship. Very exciting news I'm sure!"
