A brave group of celebrities have accepted the challenge to participate in the latest gruelling – and entertaining series of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!

With an MP, an ex-boxer, a darts legend and an ex-Doctor Who star all featuring, this year's line up is as diverse as ever, and the contestants will be put through their paces in the Australian outback as they encounter the usual creepy crawlies, dangerous beasts and vertiginous heights in their challenges.

The new series, however, has generated controversy before it has even begun. For the first time in the show's history, a serving MP will enter the fold to battle it out in the jungle. Nadine Dorries, the Conservative member of parliament representing mid Bedfordshire, will go ahead with the challenge despite being suspended from her position by Prime Minister David Cameron.

Soap star Helen Flanagan has opted to leave her Coronation Street career behind in favour of greener pastures. Moving away from her colourful alter-ego Rosie Webster, the star has insisted that she will still be glamming up in the jungle. "I'll make sure I'm tanned, manicured, and have got my lashes on!" she said.

Helen will be kept company by fellow soap star Charlie Brooks. Charlie, who plays Janine Butcher in rival soap EastEnders, said that she is far removed from the manipulative attitude of her character, saying: "I think I make friends easily. I'm not argumentative and I think I'll be quite motherly in the camp. I'm not a bad cook either."

Plenty of the competitors will be used to being in front of a lens. Made In Chelsea star Hugo Taylor, comedian Brian Conley, ex- Doctor Who star Colin Baker and actress Linda Robson have all signed up to take part. Odds-on favourite Brian said that he had to overcome a fear of rats to participate. "I knew that I had to get used to them. I even had the rats running all over me!" The Grimleys star said.

It also seems that Birds Of A Feather star Linda Robson had to deal with her rodent worries. The 54-year-old was hypnotised live on This Morning six months ago so she wouldn't have to deal with her phobia in the jungle. The TV star said: "My biggest fear is now a trial involving a coffin."

The actors will be joined by top sportsmen who have jumped onboard. Ex-boxing champion David Haye and darts legend Eric Bristow will be able to put their endurance skills to the test as they encounter the thrills of the jungle. Thirty-two-year-old David is certainly up to the task. "It's a situation I'm not familiar with. It's out of my comfort zone and being in the jungle will present its own challenges. I love challenges," he said.

Adrenaline junkie Eric seconds his attitude, adding: "I've done every roller coaster ride in the world. I've come onto the show because I like mad things."

There is also someone who is looking for love on the show  Ashley Roberts of Pussycat Dolls fame. The 31-year-old has admitted to having a soft spot for the British gentlemen. "British men are very charming and if the man of my dreams is in the jungle, let it be! I'm 100% single." she revealed.

The fun and games will begin on Sunday November 11 and will be the 12th series aired in Britain.
