Princess Madeleine of Sweden's ex-fiancé Jonas Bergstrom married his fiancée Stephanie af Klercker on Saturday.The Swedish lawyer, 34, wed his partner – one of Madeleine's best friends from childhood – in the charming Stora Mellosa Church of the beautiful town of Orebro in the very heart of Sweden.The nuptials took place just two months after his former fiancée had walked down the aisle to marry American financier Chris O'Neill.

Jonas was to become a part of the Swedish royal family when he was Madeleine's partner.

The pair were a couple for eight years, and they announced their engagement in August of 2009.But the end to one of Europe's most glamorous royal romances came when Madeleine called off the engagement following the supposed infidelity of her fiancé with model and sportswoman Tora Uppstrom Berg, who revealed that she had had a brief affair with the Swede at an exclusive ski resort.

Three days later, Madeleine took off her engagement ring and boarded a flight for the US.A statement from the Swedish royal palace also confirmed that the couple had split: "They have decided that the best for them is to go their separate ways. "The brokenhearted daughter of King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden and Queen Silvia of Sweden is said to have moved to New York to throw herself into her humanitarian work, and just months later she met the love of her life, Chris.

The handsome couple are clearly besotted with one another – Madeleine has called Chris her "soulmate" – and Chris punched his fist into the air in a moment of victory and sheer delight when they appeared before the world for the first time as husband and wife.

Three years later the couple returned to Madeleine's homeland to tie the knot in a romantic ceremony, which was watched by spectators all over the country and the world.
