Stars in the market for a one-of-a-kind confection to wear to the Academy Awards next month need look no further than the Paris haute couture spring-summer catwalk shows, which wrapped up on Thursday with an Oscar-worthy collection by Elie Saab.

The Lebanese designer shot on to the celebrity A-list when Halle Berry wore a crimson Elie Saab gown with floral bodice on the night of her Oscar win in 2002. And the couturier did not disappoint glamourous fans with his latest creations, sending dozens of gorgeous gowns down the runway to close the glitziest fashion week of the season.

Christian Lacroix also looks to be a perfect Oscar ceremony choice, standing out from the pack with his colourful, romantic floor-length creations.

And with Nicole Kidman's status as the face of Chanel No 5 – as well as her apparent closet full of the label's exclusive garments – she might just opt for one of the label's ruffled creations for her Academy Awards return on February 29.
