VIKTOR AND ROLF SHOWCASE FRUITS OF H&M UNION

30 OCTOBER 2006

Flamboyant design team Viktor and Rolf treated fashionistas to a glimpse their new capsule collection for H&M in a lavish, wedding-themed spectacular in Beverly Hills at the weekend. The cult Paris-based label is the latest in a string of top fashion industry names to collaborate with the high-street giant.

Dutch duo Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren, who are renowned for the modern twist they give to classically tailored clothes, have combined lush satin fabrics with sharp silhouettes in the new line, which is available from outlets around the world in November. Among the new autumn/winter looks getting an airing on the runway were a series of sharp tuxedo-esque jacket and trouser pairings in monochrome hues, enlivened with more feminine numbers in vibrant scarlet satin.

In designing a capsule collection for the Swedish company the designers follow in the footsteps of Karl Lagerfeld and Stella McCartney. Their creations look certain to be the most extravagant designs the store has seen to date, however. "We are die-hard romantics, but at the same time we are also conceptualists," explained Rolf. "So we wanted to do something light and entertaining."
