Monegasque beauty Charlotte in spotlight at Valentino retrospective

17 JUNE 2008
At a high society party with a guest list including models Claudia Schiffer and Natalia Vodianova, most ladies would have had little chance of cornering a share of the limelight. Not so for Monaco royal Charlotte Casiraghi, however.

Princess Caroline of Monaco's elegant daughter more than held her own at a Parisian soiree thrown by retired fashion king Valentino, who singled out the 21-year-old beauty for attention at the bash.

As the pair chatted on the red carpet it was evident what a poised young lady Charlotte has become, and easy to see why, with her model good looks and impeccable sense of style, she often draws comparisons with her grandmother, Princess Grace.

The party launched an exhibition - at the French capital's Les Arts Decoratifs museum - celebrating the Italian haute couture maestro's career. Paris' first retrospective of his work contains over 200 pieces, spanning his five-decade fashion reign.
