There aren't many eight-year-olds who can claim to have attended an Oscar ceremony and taken centre stage at a high profile catwalk show.

Slumdog Millionaire stars Rubina Ali and Azharuddin Ismail got to add the latter to their already impressive CV, though, as their incredible year continued with a modelling stint during New Delhi fashion week.

Now 'old pros' in front of the camera, the duo revealed no sign of nerves as they showcased designs from the new collection by Ashima and Leena Singh. Rubina, her face lit up with a mile-wide smile, wore a multi-coloured ruffled gypsy skirt while Azharuddin took to the runway in a traditional black sherwani with red detailing.

"I am never afraid," Mumbai-born Azharudin informed reporters after walking down the catwalk to the strains of Jai Ho, the Oscar-winning song from Danny Boyle's acclaimed film.

The youngsters' involvement lent further inspiration to the designers behind the India Fashion Week show. "We never name our collection, but now I think it's got a name of its own – the Slumdog collection," says Leena Singh.
