Kim Kardashian, Sarah Jessica Parker and Justin Bieber turn out to help celebrate New York's Fashion's Night Out

It's an exciting week for New York fashionistas. Fashion Week is officially underway and Thursday night marked the Big Apple’s biggest shopping street party, Fashion's Night Out.

The industry’s biggest names and loyal fans flooded over 1,000 boutiques that had opened their doors after-hours to throw parties, host celebrities and greet customers. Kim Kardashian drew quite the crowd at her store Dash, with a picture she posted on Twitter (below) showing hordes of ‘Kardashian klan’ fans filling the street whilst they waited to join the party. The reality mogul wrote: “Wow NYC really showed the love for Fashion’s Night out at Dash!”.

Meanwhile, Sex and the City star Sarah Jessica Parker happily signed scores of Manolo Blahnik heels. The luxury shoes which were made famous by the hugely popular television series. The actress looked stunning in a black leather dress and a chic, side-swept ponytail. At Diane von Furstenburg’s store in the Meatpacking District, scores of young women came to meet the legendary designer. She stood by the till and gave advice to potential buyers, telling one girl who was undecided about purchasing a bag: “Look,” as she ran her hand along a slot on the side, “you can put your iPad in here.” Teen idol Justin Bieber put in an appearance at Manhattan’s Dolce & Gabbana store and even serenaded the crowd before posing for pictures with a perfectly turned-out Anna Wintour and Brooklyn Decker.

Other performances included Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester, who sang at the Tiffany Fifth Avenue store celebration, and Joss Stone, who took to the stage on Broadway Boulevard for Macy's. The global shopping bonanza has participants in over 250 American cities and 18 different countries. Engineered by US Vogue editor Anna Wintour three years ago, the event was billed an attempt to lift people’s spirits after September 11.
