Helen Mirren is notoriously private, but delighted fans on Thursday after sharing a rare insight into her life away from the spotlight, taking to Instagram to share a very glamorous photo of her with her girlfriends enjoying a spot of dinner. In the snap, The Queen actress was photographed around a restaurant table with three female friends, all of whom were dressed in stylish red outfits. Helen, 72, rocked a red leather jacket, which she teamed with a white blouse, and looked relaxed as she enjoyed catching up with her friends.
The photo – which was captioned: "Sunday lunch with my girlfriends," – went down a treat with Helen's followers, who were quick to comment. One wrote: "To cool for school," while another joked: "On Thursday we dress in red." A third told their friend: "We need to coordinate in red next time."

Over time, the award-winning actress has taken to share snippets from her life, with images ranging from travel snaps to selfies with Hollywood stars. Helen was recently branded a "Goddess" by one social media user after she shared a makeup-free selfie of herself in Los Angeles. In the picture, the actress stood in front of a backdrop of lit-up buildings, captioning it: "I hold the super red blue moon over Los Angeles."

Last month, Helen reunited with her old flame Liam Neeson while appearing on The Graham Norton Show. The Hollywood stars were asked about their five-year-romance, with Liam admitting he was "head over heels" in love with the British actress. Helen then revealed: "We didn’t date, we lived together for four years – we were a serious item for a while. Lucky me!"
The former couple were in a relationship between 1980 and 1985 after meeting on the set of 1981 movie Excalibur, which also starred Nigel Terry and Patrick Stewart. Taken star Liam, 65, admitted that he harboured a huge crush on Helen. "Before I met her and we worked together I had read somewhere that if she fancied a guy she would imitate his walk behind his back and I turned around one day and she was doing that to me," he shared.
