Hollywood star Geena Davis has given birth to twin boys at the age of 48. Both she and the two babies are said to be doing well at their home in Los Angeles.

Despite coming late to parenthood, Geena is now a mother of three: she and her husband already have a two-year-old daughter, Alizeh Keshvar. They have named their two sons Kian William and Kaiis Steven.

"Mother and babies are doing beautifully," said a statement from her publicist. "Alizeh was delighted to have two new baby brothers."

Geena married her fourth husband, Dr Reza Jarrahy, in 2001. She had previously been wed to restaurateur Richard Emmolo, director Renny Harlin, and her frequent co-star Jeff Goldblum. But it wasn't until she set up home with Reza that she decided to start a family.

The actress is best-known for her roles in films like Thelma And Louise and A League Of Their Own. She also picked up a best supporting actress Oscar for her portrayal of a kooky dog-trainer in The Accidental Tourist.
