In her title role as the governess who uses magic to rein in the behaviour of seven naughty children in her charge, the 46-year-old British actress spends most of her time in drab period costume and displays just a single front tooth.
The Oscar-winning actress - she picked up her 1992 gong for period drama Howard's End - was counting on double support on the blue carpet at the weekend: that of her magical staff from the film, and also that of her husband and fellow actor Greg Wise.
Also on hand at the central London screening was Emma's co-star, Colin Firth – the movie's beleaguered father of seven – who attended with his Italian wife Olivia.
Nanny McPhee, which also stars Imelda Staunton and Derek Jacobi, opens in the UK on October 21, and hits US screens in late January. |
