A night out at the movies for Dustin and daughters

Hollywood veteran Dustin Hoffman looked every bit the family man as he enjoyed an outing with daughters Rebecca and Jenna in New York this week. The Oscar-winning star may be used to taking centre stage, but at the American premiere for the film Proof, he was more than happy to share the limelight with 23-year-old Rebecca and Jenna, 35.

The trio had all gone for casual outfits, although the girls looked rather more glamorous than dad Dustin, who was in a white shirt and baggy trousers teamed with sneakers. Chestnut-haired Rebecca, his daughter by wife Lisa Gottsegen, opted for a slinky black dress edged with metallic detailing. Meanwhile older sister actress Jenna - from the star's first marriage to Anne Byrne - had selected jeans and a black top with a loosely-knotted tie at the throat.

It was the film's leading lady, Gwyneth Paltrow, however, who was the clear winner in the style stakes. Looking relaxed and self-assured, the Shakespeare In Love star was pulling out all the stops in a flattering gold dress, with this season's hot new bow trend at the hip and shoulder.

The film sees Gwyneth reprising a role she first played on the West End stage as a woman in mourning for her father. The Tinseltown favourite has admitted that the experience of losing her own father Bruce in 2002 could have influenced her performance. "I don't transplant my emotions from real life, but I was on a very parallel path," she revealed recently.
