'Pearl Harbor' star Kate to set sail for home

The UK will soon be welcoming the return of one of its most beautiful exports - The Aviator actress Kate Beckinsale is preparing to move back to her native land.

The 33-year-old, who is married to American director Les Wiseman, moved to the US with then-boyfriend Michael Sheen in the wake of her work on the uber-expensive flick Pearl Harbor. But after four years and a dearth of potentially Oscar-winning roles, she's heading home.

Motivating the family's decision are Kate's hopes of winning a West End stage role and a desire to enrol daughter Lily - the fruit of her relationship with Michael - in a British school. "I've just bought a house in Notting Hill," she revealed in an interview with Tatler magazine. "It'll be very nice to come back and maybe I'll do a play."

Six-year-old Lily's future was also a consideration. "It's important that she grows up in my culture," explains Kate. "I don't want her constantly taken out of school, sitting in a trailer and becoming a Hollywood child."
