Fly-boy Brad brings aviator role to Cannes

Having popped up in Paris, Vienna, Berlin and London in recent weeks, Brad Pitt is obviously a man who likes to get around. And the jet-setting actor will soon be able to bypass the headache of booking commercial flights like normal travellers, as he is currently working hard at getting his own pilot's licence.

The 42-year-old was snapped at the controls of a small single-propeller plane as he took a lesson at Cannes' La Bocca airport in France this week. He no doubt caught the flying bug from A-list girlfriend Angelina Jolie, who became a qualified civilian pilot back in 2004.

Earlier this year the hunky actor was spotted taking a spin with his Oscar-winning love and her little boy Maddox in her Cirrus SR22. It will be some time before he can take to the air on his own, however, as it is necessary to pass six tough exams in order to be awarded a licence.

Brad will also be hoping to avoid the little obstacles that cropped up when Angelina was learning the art of aviation. According to reports stateside, her first instructor became so star-struck he had to withdraw his services as he was worried he wouldn't be able to do the job properly.
