Golden girl Halle in figure-hugging form at awards bash

As Catwoman Halle Berry has had her fair share of practice when it comes to wearing figure-hugging costumes. So it was no surprise to see her carrying off with aplomb a spray-on number at a glamorous awards ceremony in LA on Tuesday.

The gorgeous actress, who is dating Canadian male model Gabriel Aubry, made a glittering impression in her thigh-skimming gold Gucci number as she picked up the People's Choice gong for best female action star. And her choice of look didn't go unappreciated by fellow celebrities. "Thank God for having her wear that dress," said comedian Robin Williams - who was named funniest male star.

The gala, one of a host of Hollywood honours held in the run-up to the Oscars on February 25, are determined by film and TV fans who voted online. Among the night's other big winners were Cameron Diaz who picked up the title of favourite leading lady, Jennifer Aniston, named top movie star, and her Break Up co-star and ex boyfriend Vince Vaughn who was awarded best leading man.

Jen, who was glam as always in a stunning cream frock, couldn't resist a reference to Britney's recent outing minus her underwear as she stepped up to receive her trophy. "Man, I tell you, it's a lucky thing we do wear underwear, huh?" she quipped, as she stood on an elevated stage with fans directly below her.

The red carpet was also the scene of some humorous high jinks as Felicity Huffman teased her Desperate Housewives co-star Eva Longoria, tweaking the fabric of the Latina actress' stunning backless drape dress. The bride-to-be was on hand to collect her award for favourite female star in the TV category, while Grey's Anatomy's Dr "McDreamy" Patrick Dempsey earned the male title.
