Watched by his proud dad Kirk Douglas and wife Catherine Zeta-Jones, Michael Douglas was honoured at the Producers Guild Awards on Saturday.

The Basic Instinct star – an Oscar winner for his work producing One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest – received a lifetime achievement award in front of a star-studded audience which included a countryman of Catherine's, Welsh Frost/Nixon star Michael Sheen.

The big winner at the Saturday evening ceremony, though, was hit British film Slumdog Millionaire. Its producer, Christian Colson, took home its top gong, the Darryl F Zanuck producer of the year award.

Also recognised at the Hollywood gala were Tom Hanks' miniseries John Adams, computer-animated film Wall-E and acclaimed 1960s-set drama Mad Men.
