A guide to getting luscious lashes for the festive season

08 DECEMBER 2011

Cheryl Cole, Adele and Glee's Lea Michele all have gorgeous flutters thanks to a bit of extra attention to the eye area.

And long, luscious lashes are the perfect party accessory for the festive season.

Read on for a few tips on playing them up for instant look-at-me appeal.

Enhance your natural set

You can achieve a seriously enviable flutter with lash extensions – something that beauty experts and celebrities alike swear by.

“Eyelash extensions not only emphasize the eyes but also open them up for a pretty, wide-eyed effect,” says celeb eyelash extension expert Kelly Hanys.

“If applied perfectly eyelash extensions look just like natural lashes.”

Individual synthetic lashes are applied to your own to create the glamorous effect.

A full set of fabulous couture lashes from Kelly at EF Medispa in St. John’s Wood costs £160 and lasts for up to a month. Maintenance then costs £80. 0207 122 0190, www.efmedispa.com

Master mascara

"Mascara opens up your eyes and helps to frame your face," says make-up artist to the stars Alice Theobald.

For maximum impact first use eyelash curlers and an eyelash brush to separate the lashes.

And for ultimate volume, Christian Dior’s DiorShow in Black is Alice’s recommendation.

”This is the best mascara if you’re after thick, luscious lashes,” she says. “Plus I love the wand – it is brilliant for removing clumps and build up.”

Fake it

If you want to make a statement with your eyelashes for a night out, fake it.

The Girls Aloud members have created fabulous ranges of fake eyelashes for Eylure, a brand loved by the TOWIE crew.

This diamante pair by Nicola Roberts is perfect for the sparkly season.

Nourish and nurture

Get longer and thicker lashes naturally by using an eyelash serum.

M2 Beauté Eyelash Activating Serum and its Revitalizing Gloss is a duo made in lash heaven.

Containing active ingredients, it promotes fullness, length and strength of the lashes along with condition, definition and shine.

If applied daily, the maker claims results are visible after six weeks.

And if your budget won’t stretch that far, RapidLash is an effective alternative.
