Year after year singing sensations from around the world impress us not only with their show stopping voices but with an enviable array of red carpet hairstyles. From the sleek and simple locks of Taylor Swift to romantic chignons with a youthful finish as worn by Shine Ya Light singer Rita Ora, there was barely a hair out of place at the Brit Awards 2013. Here at  HELLO! Online  we speak to award-winning hairdressers who give the style secrets behind pop's finest faces:

Top of the knotsAshley Roberts' topknot and Rita Ora's bun are the epitome of gorgeously relaxed updos,” says Rae Palmer, Redken ambassador. "To get Ashley’s topknot, pull hair into a high ponytail, leaving out the front section. Then twist the ponytail around on itself, securing around a doughnut to get a fuller finish. Plait the front section up and fix into the topknot." "For Rita's bun, secure hair back, twisting around and securing round some padding leaving the front section out. Backcomb the front section then pull over to the side, finishing with some hairspray to secure. "Blonde hair always looks great in this sort of disheveled style because you can see the variations in tone from the bottom layers and is the perfect second-day hairstyle. Use a dry shampoo like Mark Hill's Dirty Little Stop Out product for a fresh yet messed up effect to the look for a simple everyday 'do.

Straight-talking style“Flying the flag for poker straight locks, Jessie J and Taylor Swift showed how gorgeous simple yet sleek locks can be” observed British Colourist of the Year Ken Picton. "To get the look, use an oil-based product such as Shu Uemura’s Essence Absolue, blowdry straight against a large paddle bush and then finish with irons; the new GHD Eclipse irons are incredible and the perfect tool for this look." For an extra glam look and added volume, Ken says "slip on an Effortless Extension – a hair piece on a wire that takes seconds to add in. I really love Jessie with this more natural style, it looks great. Taylor also makes the most of her thick, healthy locks with a bit of movement through the lengths.

"You can replicate this effect by giving your irons a flick as you run them through to get this body.”

Hair raising notes Katherine Jenkins may have missed the mark on the fashion front but her hair is bang on trend” says Karine Jackson, Organic Colour specialist. “This slicked back side and height on top first appeared on the catwalks at Prada and in the pages of Vogue and has fast become a firm favourite in the salon." "Backcomb the front, then slick back the sides with gel and a comb – my favourite gel is Organic Colour System's because it’s free from plastic and silicone based ingredients. Set the look with your dryer on the slowest speed. Denise Van Outen also showed off height and sleek sides with a ponytail – I just love this look!”
