Rihanna gets a new hairstyle with dramatic blonde makeover

17 MAY 2013

Rihanna has proved that she's the queen chameleon of hair colour as she stepped out in New York this week with a brand new blonde weave.

The Fireworks singer gave an early preview of her new locks on Instagram earlier on Tuesday with a caption that pointed directly towards her new bleached and blown-dry hairstyle. "I woke up in a new… weave!" the singer wrote.

Rihanna later attended a commericial photo shoot in Manhatten sporting a high waisted knitted skirt teamed with a cropped bomber jacket to show off her enviably toned stomach.

The singer paired the look with a few statement accessories, wearing a pair of dark acrylic sunglasses, gold hoop earrings and strappy black heeled sandals for sport luxe look.

After sporting auburn waist-length Rapunzel-style locks which Rihanna was seen wearing just last week, the singer seems more than happy with her lighter weave.

The Umbrella singer has previously sported a vivid bleach blonde hue among her various choices of hair colour, but this time the star has opted for a warm honey-blonde that still allows the darker, natural roots of her own hair to show through for a two-tone and more dimensional look.

It also appears that Rihanna has kept the half-shaven style of her previous cut and worked her new 'do in Manhattan with a deep side parting to show off this effect.

While on the shoot, the Barbados-born star kept the rest of her tumbling tresses styled with lightly tousled curls as she sauntered around the set clutching an iced coffee to cool herself down in the warmer weather.

Although Rihanna has reportedly split from her on-off love interest, Chris Brown, the singer has been keeping herself busier than usual with her blossoming career.

Her recent make-up venture with MAC cosmetics saw her staple red lipstick called RiRi Woo sell out within three hours of its launch following the success of her fashion line with River Island.
