Now a household name thanks to her leading role in Gavin And Stacey, Joanna originally hails from Mumbles village in Swansea, where she was born to a mechanic father and a financial services worker mum. Making her screen debut as a servant in Miss Julie in 1999, the bubbly blonde has notched up film appearances in Love Actually and Johnny Depp movie From Hell. Prior to being cast as lovable Welsh blonde Stacey Shipman in BAFTA-winning sitcom Gavin And Stacey, Joanna's TV work included To The Ends Of The Earth and Making Waves while she also starred in the video for Mark Owen track Makin' Out. Joanna was nominated best female at the 2007 British comedy awards and the following year she took on the role of Jeannie in the stage production of Fat Pig alongside Peep Show's Robert Webb. Married in December 2003 to fellow actor James Thornton, Joanna lives with her Red Cap star husband in south London.
