ZARA AND RICHARD ALL SMILES AS THEY ADMIRE THE LATEST ASCOT FASHIONS

With the fashion parade also known as Royal Ascot set to take place next month, it comes as no surprise to learn that Princess Anne's daughter Zara Phillips has been checking out the latest in hat design.

The striking young blonde admired the wares of milliner Louis Mariette on Tuesday in London, alongside her beau, jockey Richard Johnson. The on-off relationship is definitely on once again, demonstrated by the couple's radiant smiles as they mingled with fellow guests arm-in-arm.

Zara – who celebrates her 22nd birthday on Thursday – wore a demure earth-toned trouser suit as she admired Mariette's glamorous hats, featured in a collection intended specifically for Ascot. Though there's no word on the stylish royal's fashion plans for the famous horse racing event, she's likely to choose a head-turning outfit. In 2002, Zara's lilac lace confection by Elspeth Gibson – topped with a 1940s-style hat by Tara O’Callaghan – was arguably the hit of the high-profile occasion.

Royal Ascot, which begins on June 17, usually lasts only four days. But after the success of last year's five-day run, the Queen has given her consent for the high society bash to be extended once again in 2003.
