CHERIE BLAIR MAKES HER MARK AS A DANCEFLOOR DIVA

Tony Blair's wife Cherie already has a successful career as a lawyer, but she seems to have found a second calling as a dancefloor diva. Because a sample of her singing has been remixed into a dance track, and it's proving a hit on the party island of Ibiza.

Cherie gave a rendition of the Beatles classic When I'm 64 last month during a trip to Beijing. Some Chinese students had asked Mr Blair to sing a verse, and Cherie stepped in to help, little knowing that the recording would be reworked and sent to leading dance music producers. Now her voice can be heard booming out of nightclub sound-systems in the resorts of Ayia Napa, Cyprus and the Balearics.

And music pundits say it could well start climbing the pop charts in Britain. "It's a catchy tune and an eccentric performance," said a Radio 1 spokesman. "When people realise it's Mrs Blair, it is difficult to know how they will react, but it is set to be red hot this summer."

Of course, if it does become a chart topper, Cherie may be entitled to claim royalties for her vocal talents.
