They may be going their very separate ways these days but Prince Joachim and Princess Alexandra of Denmark are obviously determined to put on a united face for their son Nikolai. All three were wearing broad smiles as they made their way, hand in hand, to the youngster's school for the first day back after the summer break.

The couple, who have two sons - Prince Nikolai, five, and two-year-old Prince Felix -
were divorced in April after nearly a decade of marriage. They remain on good terms, though, and often meet up for family gatherings.
Now the princess seems to be moving on in her personal life, with the Danish press recently reporting that Alexandra, who remains enormously popular in her adopted homeland, has found love again. The Hong Kong-born 41-year-old is said to be dating photographer Martin Jorgensen, who at 26 is 15 years younger than her.
Alexandra has apparently accompanied her new beau, who regularly shoots portraits of the royal family, on visits to Asia and to his parents' home in Tuscany.
When asked about reports concerning her former daughter-in-law, Queen Margrethe - currently on vacation at the family's French holiday home in Caix - said she was aware there was "something" going on in Alexandra's private life, but that she did not want "to get involved".
