PRINCE WILLIAM TO SWITCH COURSES AT UNIVERSITY

Prince William has put an end to speculation over his educational career at St Andrews with a move to a new degree course and the search for a new flat, a British tabloid has reported. The young Prince started a four-year course in History of Art in September last year but, says The Sun, when he matriculates for his second year it will be as a Geography student.

“History of Art is just not William’s cup of tea,” a royal aide told the newspaper. “Geography fits in more with what he wants to focus on.” The change has yet to be confirmed by St. James Palace, however.

William gained an interest in geography while on his gap year in Chile working on the Operation Raleigh scheme. He had signed up to study History of Art – a childhood interest – prior to his year abroad in the South American country.

While away, he worked on a project in a remote Andean village and studied marine life. The experience served to strengthen his interest in travel, geography and, like his father, conservation. The Sun says the Prince has talked about the move with his father, and is now ready for the change in direction.

Recent speculation that William was considering a move to Edinburgh University, where many of his friends are studying, would seem to have been quashed by the fact that he is now flat-hunting for a second-year apartment with firm friend Kate Middleton.

Younger brother Prince Harry has also expressed an interest in studying at the ancient Scottish university. “It is far too early to say which subjects Harry will take,” a royal aide told The Sun, “but he has expressed a wish to go to St Andrews like his big brother.”
