Mary and Frederik take their little prince on trip

To the delight of local Danes, young Prince Christian tagged along with his parents Princess Mary and Prince Frederik of Denmark as they made an official visit to Bornholm in the Baltic sea. Dressed in baby blue, the young royal seemed to be taking the trip in his stride.

Australian-born Mary and Queen Margrethe's eldest son beamed with pride as they arrived at the Danish island by boat with their first-born. Holding her son tightly, the popular princess let him peer over the edge and helped the future king, who was born last October, to practise his royal wave as crowds of wellwishers looked on.

Mary had made sure her fair-haired little boy was wrapped up warm against the inclement weather in a woollen top and denim trousers, while she was elegant as ever in a cropped jacket and skirt topped with a stylish hat. Christian's proud papa was looked equally dashing in full military regalia, but that didn't stop him putting his back into the task of planting a tree on the island.
