In her 33 years on the throne, Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands has established herself as one of the best-loved European monarchs. On the eve of her abdication, royal representatives from around the world, including Prince Charles and Camilla, arrived at a special state dinner to celebrate her reign. Charles and Camilla were part of a glittering guest list at the farewell dinner, which was held in Amsterdam's Rijksmuseum. The Prince of Wales and his wife looked delighted to be attending the event, which marks Camilla's highest-profile appearance abroad to date.

The Duchess dazzled in a monochrome gown, a glittering tiara in her hair, as she walked the red carpet with her husband Charles, who looked dapper in a tuxedo. Many of their European counterparts also attended the official function, including Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden — stunning in a purple gown — and her husband Prince Daniel, who arrived alongside Japan's Crown Prince Naruhito.

Denmark's Crown Princess Mary looked enchanting in a nude gown as she made her entrance on the arm of her husband, Prince Frederik, while Princess Mathilde of Belgium was equally elegant in white as she made her way inside the venue with Prince Philippe. Spain's royal representatives, Felipe and Letizia, were among the first guests to arrive, the Crown Princess dressed in a classic black gown. Many of the VIP guests are good friends with Willem-Alexander and Maxima, giving their attendance at the event extra significance.
